In this event, you are welcomed to provide us with two recommendation letters from your colleagues or other that can speak to your commitment to evidence based care, character, professionalism, and community presence. Please note this on your application.
I have been practicing doula work for 5 years after being trained but never became certified. Am I eligible to apply to become an Evidence Based Birth® Instructor?
You need to hold a current certification in a birth profession to be a Evidence Based Birth® Instructor. These particular credentials are required because we submit all new Instructors to the American College of Nurse Midwives for approval to teach our CEU courses, and that is one reason why we have this standard. We do however have Instructors in the process of completing their birth certification and training at the same time. If this is the case for you, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will look at your specific situation.
I am a CPM in a state that does not license midwives. Am I still eligible to apply?
Yes! You can use your NARM certificate as proof.
Can I allow my current birth certification to lapse when I become an Evidence Based Birth® Instructor?
No. Every year you must provide proof of certification or licensure in order to renew as an Evidence Based Birth® Instructor. Currently, the Evidence Based Birth® Instructor Program is not a certification agency. The EBB Instructor program is an advanced program for people who are already licensed or certified through another organization as either a nurse, CBE, doula, or midwife/physician.
I don't live in the United States and have questions about teaching in my country.
I noticed that there are Instructors all over the globe. Ireland, Finland, Dubai, Egypt, Mexico, Canada, and more! I have a different maternal health system in my country. WiIl the content still be relevant for my country?
Most of our curriculum is customizable to your community. If there is ever a time where you wish to modify the curriculum to present better to your community, we have a process in place for you to submit your suggestions for approval. So far, our Instructors around the world have been successful with these steps.
Will I be able to teach in a different language?
We have Instructors in many areas of the world where English is not spoken. To teach in a different language, you simply sign a translation agreement with EBB and we go from there.
